Muscat: A two-week awareness campaign, launched on June 22, 2026, was rolled out across social media platforms with the participation of the Royal Oman Police, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the Ministry of Social Development. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s 2025 development programmes under the framework titled “Towards a National Framework for Engaging with Social Media.”

The campaign aimed to promote positive digital behaviour, encourage responsible use of online platforms, and curb harmful online practices, particularly among young users. It delivered educational content addressing legal, technical, social, educational, and family dimensions of the digital environment.

The initiative reflects growing concerns over the rapid global expansion of digital platforms and their increasing impact on public awareness and behaviour, highlighting the importance of strengthening digital literacy and fostering safe, informed engagement online.
